House of Embroidery Cotton Perle #5 is a high-sheen, mercerized 100% cotton thread. Since this beautifully twisted thread has a soft luster and cannot be separated into individual strands.

Each mini skein contains 7.6 yards of thread, for a total of 45.6 yards per set.

The three shades are designed to complement one another and can be stitched together for a softly variegated effect or used individually wherever your canvas calls for a coordinating color.  One of my favorite ways to add depth, movement and visual interest to a canvas is with variegated threads.

Recommended Mesh:

• 18 mesh: Ideal for full coverage and decorative stitches
• 13 mesh: Best suited for decorative stitches or lighter coverage, depending on your stitching style

Variegated Thread Tips:

• Do not cut the skein apart. Instead, locate the beginning of the thread and cut only the length you need, keeping track of the working end. This helps maintain the natural color progression throughout your stitching.

• Variegated threads can absolutely be used with decorative stitches. For background stitching, however, they generally work best with continental stitch rather than basketweave, allowing the beautiful color changes to remain more consistent.
